Announcing the Third Friday TRASH FOR CASH drive

Third Friday has joined the TerraCycle recycling program and in April we will begin collecting both

Foil Juice Pouches (Kool Aid, Capri Sun and Honest Tea, etc.). We cannot take juice boxes
Wide Mouth Yogurt Pots (6oz and 32oz, Stoneyfield Farm, Brown Cow, Dannon etc). We cannot take Yoplait etc. it has to look like a plant pot.

Neither of these items are recyclable by traditional means and would ordinarily end up in a landfill. TerraCycle take the foil pouches and makes them into Tote Bags (you may have seen some from a similar program in Whimsies) and the yogurt pots are turned into plant pots.

TerraCycle (and their corporate sponsors) will donate 2 cents per pouch/6oz pot and 5 cents per 32oz pot to a good cause. We have nominated The Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns. So please bring your unwanted, clean, pouches and pots to the Craft Table starting in April.

Celebrate Literature - May 16th

Birdhouse Contest
Tarrytown Beautification Foundation will be holding a birdhouse contest (so the birds have somewhere to keep their books). Bring your best effort to Whimsies or Michael Christopher Antiques by May 14th. Juding will be on May's Third Friday, outside Whimsies and categories will include, most unusual, most artistic, best in show, with a special category for children 13 and under. The entrance holes should be 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide and the birdhouse should be made of materials that will not amplify heat. Winners will be exhibited in stores around town and eventually placed in village parks. For more information or questions feel free to call Chris at 914-332-0338.
