April's Third Friday Review

The combination of beautiful weather and so many fantastic stores, restaurants, vendors and activities made Tarrytown the place to be last Friday night!

The streets were teeming with people enjoying our wonderful town. Many of the restaurants kicked off their sidewalk service, Main Street Sweets unveiled a number of new flavors and the streets were lined with eco-friendly vendors and organisations. Stone Barns came to showcase their compost (which includes used grounds from our own Coffee Labs Roasters), Hudson Recreation announced that they will begin Kyak lessons at the Tarrytown lakes starting in June, Master Yoo's showcased their adult classes and organisations such as S.T.A.S.H. (Sustainable Tarrytown And Sleepy Hollow), TEAC (Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council) and Riverkeeper came to share advice on how we might all take some steps to leave a smaller carbon footprint. Recharge Baskets and Karen Diefenbach (Shakley Vendor) were on hand to provide eco friendly products to help us on our way to becoming more mindful consumers.

We were entertained by Solar Punch a great rock band from Dobbs Ferry, making music from the power of the sun and by Y-Dance and Evolve who helped us D.I.S.C.O. in front of the firehouse (many thanks to Conqueror Hook and Ladder and Hope Hose), I think there were even some go-go boots in action. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Service were on hand giving free blood pressure screening and letting children see the inside of their ambulance.

Children's entertainment was provided by T.E.A.C. who combined education with fun in their Recycling Ring Toss and Hook the Trash Rotating Street scape. The craft table was buzzing making bird feeders from recycled water bottles and beads from recycled newspapers and anyone stopping by Whimsies was rewarded by the chance to plant a spring flower in a plant pot decorated with chalk board paint.

Come and join us again next month on Friday May 16th, when our theme will be literature and we'll be celebrating the rich and entertaining literary tradition of Tarrytown!
